Abstract:

It is a matter of common-even though not quite pleasant-experience, that one has a cut or a wound which then, in course of time, heals completely without leaving a trace, so much so that one doesn’t even remember later on that he or she ever had that wound or cut. In this experience which few escape, is implicit a set of questions which are amongst the most important in modem biology-even central to many areas in it. The objective of this article is to make readers aware of these questions, to most of which answers are still not quite known even though there are many guesses and theories.
