Abstract:

A seminar on Physiology of Reproduction was organized by the All-India Family Planning Association during the fourth All-India Family Planning Conference held at Hyderabad from 29 January to 3 February 1961. This was the first time that a seminar of a purely academic nature was arranged during an All-India Family Planning Conference, which was attended by research workers from various fields such as biologists, biochemists, medical men and veterinarians. The seminar was attended by over a hundred persons from various parts of the country. A few scientists from abroad also participated. The reading of papers was confined to those who were specially invited to do so. The discussions were open to all the participants. Dr V. R. Khanolkar, Director, Indian Cancer Research Centre, Bombay, and Vice-Chancellor, University of Bombay, presided over the first day’s sessions, and Dr A. S. Parkes, F.R.S., Head of the Division for Experimental Biology, National Institute of Medical Research, London, over the second day’s sessions.
